OUR HISTORY

The PLATFORM was created on the initiative of 16 political prisoners of the Kremlin, who were imprisoned for their pro-Ukrainian position and struggled against the Russian regime (during the hybrid phase of the war in 2014-2019). They were released as part of several large exchanges in 2019 and 2020. The platform was founded by Hero of Ukraine Volodymyr Zhemchugov, director Oleg Sentsov, writer Stanislav Aseev, journalists Mykola Semena and Roman Sushchenko, public activists Volodymyr Balukh, Pavlo Hryb, Edem Bekirov, Igor Movenk, Yevhen Panov, Oleksandr Kolchenko, Ismail Ramazanov, Oleksandr Shumkov, public activist Mykola Karpyuk, scientist Igor Kozlovsky, politicians Ilma Umerov and Akhtem Chiygoz.

THE PUBLIC PRESENTATION OF THE ORGANIZATION
The public presentation of the organization took place on March 4, 2021, in Kyiv at the Mykhailivskyi Zolotoverkhi Monastery. Its founders, as well as the spokesman of the Kyiv Metropolis of the OCU, Archbishop Yevstratiy Zorya, the head of the Pastoral and Migration Department of the UGCC, Bishop Stepan Sus, and the Mufti of the Spiritual Administration of the Muslims of Crimea in mainland Ukraine, Ayder Rustamov, spoke during the presentation. They supported the creation of the PLATFORM and expressed their readiness to help with the return of political prisoners.

Serhiy Dmitriev, the head of the Department of Social Service of the OCU, chaplain and head of the “Eleos-Ukraine” NGO, offered the Platform participants assistance with premises throughout Ukraine. “We are ready to provide premises in almost every region of Ukraine, whether you need an office, bureau to print documents, etc. You can rely on and use our facilities for work or meetings,” he said.

The founders added that the Platform operates exclusively based on the norms of international law, domestic legislation of Ukraine, norms of the UN Charter, international conventions and international court decisions, and resolutions of other international legal organizations.
The organization’s leading tasks include assisting the public sector and human rights defenders in highlighting the stories of political prisoners and their presentations to international partners. The names of the Kremlin prisoners should be known to the whole world.

The PLATFORM is open to cooperation with Ukrainian and international communities working on releasing Ukrainian political prisoners. We strive for the issue of the release of political prisoners to be constantly the focus of public attention and to become a priority, both for the Ukrainian authorities and our friends and partners abroad.
