PAVLO GRYB

Public activist, volunteer, and member of the volunteer unit of the territorial defence of Ukraine. He was kidnapped from the territory of the Republic of Belarus by the special services of the Russian Federation on August 24, 2017, and secretly transported to the territory of the Russian Federation.

He was born on July 1, 1998, in Chernihiv, Ukraine. Even at a young age, he participated in Euromaidan in 2014. Even while studying at school, he was deeply interested in the history of Ukraine; its liberation struggles for independence. In 2016, he entered the Philosophy Department at NAUKMA.

On July 23, 2018, the Russian authorities began the trial of a 19-year-old citizen of Ukraine, Pavlo Hryb, who was abducted from Belarus by Russian special services. After 11 months of psychological pressure, Hryb faced trial on trumped-up charges of terrorism in one of the most absurd cases among about 70 Ukrainian citizens illegally detained in Russia and annexed Crimea. Term of illegal imprisonment: August 24, 2017 – September 7, 2019 (2 years and 15 days).

After his release, he continued to engage in public activities and volunteering.
